Sticking Our Tongue Out at Rockport’s History

Circa 1898, we stand in front of the horse watering trough at the intersection of 5 corners in Rockport. A major snow and icefall have enveloped all the yelling we’ve been privy to, up and down Main Street. And the perennial dare of sticking your tongue on ice is being debated in the Cape Ann Advertiser/Gloucester Times.

There are enough heated contentions in Rockport 2017 that anyone sticking their tongue out can rest assured that they will undoubtedly melt the ice away and then the hearts of their political opponents.

(Leslie Bartlett, after the manner of Mark Twain)
